Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled General Surgeon with at least five years of experience in managing colon cancer and anorectal disease to join our growing surgical practice in Petersburg, Virginia. The ideal candidate will have completed a fellowship in colorectal surgery. Although fellowship training is preferred but not required. A fellowship-trained colorectal surgeon with less experience will be considered, as we recognize the value of specialized training in this field. You must have a strong understanding of advanced surgical techniques, be comfortable managing complex cases, and possess excellent decision-making skills to guide patients through their treatment journey. In addition to your expertise in colon cancer and anorectal disease, you should have experience performing colonoscopies and handling other general surgery procedures, such as hernia repairs, gallbladder removals, and other abdominal surgeries. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned surgeon looking to further develop their expertise in a supportive and dynamic practice setting or a new fellowship graduate to begin their colorectal practice. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering exceptional patient care and outcomes.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Full-time, mix of surgery, clinical hours + general surgery/level III trauma call
- Call Schedule: 1:4 call (7 days/month of 24-hour call)
- Credentialing: Southside Medical Center
- Average Patients Per Day: 20 patients/day
- Patient Age Range: Adult & Geriatric
- General Surgery Residency + Colorectal Fellowship or General Surgeon with 5+ years colorectal experience required.
- Bariatric experience would be a plus, but not required.
- Board Eligibility or Board Certification Required
