Bon Secours Mercy Health, a trusted leader in healthcare across Central Virginia, is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our growing Thoracic Surgery team at St. Mary's Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside skilled surgeons and experienced advanced practice providers in a collegial, patient-focused environment.
Position Highlights
- Full scope of care - Pre-operative, peri-operative, and post-operative management for thoracic surgical patients
- First assist in the OR - Active participation in surgical procedures and procedural room cases
- Diverse patient care - Rounding on inpatient census, outpatient follow-ups, ER/inpatient consultations, and coordination of discharge planning
- Collaboration - Work closely with physicians, nurses, and ancillary services to ensure seamless patient care
- Supportive structure - 1:1 CMA/LPN support
Schedule & Call
- Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
- Call rotation: 1:4 (clinical call; may include ER/hospital consults after training)
Requirements
- PA-C and VA license or eligibility
- CSFA required
- BLS certification
- Experience in surgery is preferred; new grads with strong surgical rotations considered
Practice Snapshot
- Average 20 patients/day
- Growing practice with strong referral base
- Patient population from newborns to adult
